Dining in Denver
We have a great reason to visit Denver, our daughter lives there! She gave us a local’s tour. Here are the favorite places we dined and also where we stayed.
Crawford Hotel
The Crawford Hotel is an amazing place to stay. It’s in Union Station and is the final stop on the train from the airport. Some people complain about how far the airport is from the city. I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s a 30 minute train ride and the train drops you in the center of town. If you stay at the Crawford, you roll off the train right to check-in. There are many bars and restaurants in Union Station so if the weather turns and you can’t face it, you can stay indoors with plenty of options.
Snooze an A.M. Eatery
We ate at Snooze twice while we were there. If you are a guest at the hotel (Snooze is in Union Station) you get priority seating but you have to give them 24 hours notice. We were never that together. We got in the regular line and the wait was about 40 minutes each time. It was worth it!
Pony Up
We went to Pony Up for happy hour drinks and snacks. The drink menu was really fun. Notable food: Country Karaage (chicken strips), and the Classic French Dip (not pictured cause it’s ugly delicious).
Dairy Block
We just walked through the Dairy Block but it has some cool places to eat, drink, and shop in. I’ll definitely spend more time there on my next visit.
Elway’s Cherry Creek
We got to celebrate a birthday while we were there. Elways’s is perfect for the man in your life. It’s described as “ritzy steakhouse with a hopping bar scene” and I agree. It’s along the same lines as Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris with a definate Colorado spin. The menu has more variety. I was the only one who actually ordered a steak!
El Five
El Five was probably my most favorite place but I’m a sucker for tapas and G&T’s. Everything we had was top notch and the crowd was lively and energetic.
Occidental
I loved this bar! Mainly because it was punk and it brought back memories of my youth.
